Watching my beautiful kids open their first ever Christmas presents. I will spend Christmas Eve putting together a kitchen play set for my daughter, and then loosely wrapping it so she can easily tear into it- she’s a year and a half. Then after the presents are opened, I will probably set up the Wii U I got for my son… Shhhh…he doesn’t know… and play Zombie-U and the new Mario Brothers game with him until we go to Mrs. Dazed’s sisters house for ham and turkey dinner. Eat way too much and come home and pass out.
I can’t believe your “loving” eldumasses want to ruin the mornings of so many people. If I remember right, each hall I was in – in the past – would always be mindful not to disturb people on their “worldly holidays.” It would be the least affective day for service. “Yeah, lets go piss off more than the usual number of people by ruining their holiday celebrations…YEA!”
If a local elder or group came knocking on my door Christmas morning, I’d want to punch the guy out.

Please don't take the mick....but I got disfellowshipped for kneeing an elder in the nads
by outinthemeadows inan elder in my congregation got on my nerves because he kept putting his arm around me and i'd asked him to stop.
a few weeks later he did the same thing again so i used my knee against his micro-penis.
a judicial committee was formed even though i was being sexually harrassed by this octapus of an elder.

I see a lot of the memorial here in Denver too. Everywhere. Not sure but I think its primarily the Hispanic culture that does it here, at least the ones I see regularly.

I got one when I left that has special meaning for me and my family. It’s on my forearm. It’s a constant reminder of the reasons I remain sober.
I have thought about getting more, but I want one that has special meaning before I settle on another. I was 29 when I got my first. I can see people getting them younger having ragrets…

10 Years out of the JW Organization- What I've Learned ( For what it's Worth)
by flipper in10 years ago i stopped attending jehovah's witness meetings for good.
walked out of the kingdom hall cold turkey never to return based on injustices i observed among others and myself at the hands of elders giving out not god's counsel but personal opinions as counsel .
some of them weren't even giving out wt society counsel- just personal opinions.

Thank you Flipper for writing your opening post. Your first point about how “special” JW’s are-NOT. I wish I realized this sooner. I truly believed all the spoon-fed crap I was forced to eat from birth until I woke up over 2 years ago at 28. This was the one thing that apparently my wife, also born in, could never buy. This is what made it easy for her to leave after I left. She told me how she always felt it was so “arrogant” to think WE are the only people the have the “whole truth”.
It is so hard, but I try not to dwell on the past but try to look forward to the future. I am happy I got out safe with my wife but especially happy I got my 2 kids out long before they would remember any of it (son now 5 and daughter almost 2).
I never had a dad in my life growing up, but I had a “father-like” figure close to me. Even though we’ve never me, when I read your posts, I am reminded of that father-like figure I always looked up to. Thank you for what you bring to the table here at JWN

The : Lets invite A B but not C. We are going to drink way too much for C. “We don’t wanna stumble anyone” while we get sh*t faced. This happened on several occasions.

Love it. This is the first year we are celebrating as a family. We got the tree after Thanksgiving. Decorated it and all. If it wasn’t for our 2 little ones, I doubt the misses and I would go through much effort. I also put up Christmas lights for the first time. I had an elder call and leave a voicemail asking me to call him back. I still haven’t. I think someone saw the lights and turned us in.lol.

When Organized Religion Becomes a Cult
by dazed but not confused ini saw this mentioned in a post.
i thought it deserved a thread of its own.
i liked how this article reasoned with the reader how a religion can cross over into cult territory very quickly.. "the harm stems from a system that shuns and ostracizes adherents that don't accept their exclusive claims to truth.

Me too Clarity, me too.
Yes yadda yadda, I know there are many JW’s = cult threads. I just liked this article.
Oubliette – I wont give up. I will just have to be more creative trying to get them to think.
